Maier Racing was founded in California in 1969 to supply Mustang enthusiasts with performance parts. Today, it's known for its carbon fibre work, so when we went looking for the best Model 3 aero parts which are functional but also look the part, Maier was the obvious choice.
These spoilers are made in California by hand using plain weave Toray carbon fibre 3k TOE, 200gsm dry. A layer of fibreglass is used in the middle for impact damage stability. Marine grade polyester resins & clear gel coat address UV stability.
All of these spoilers are made in the same way. Clear gel coat, carbon fibre, then fibreglass in the middle for some damage toughness, and finally another layer of carbon fibre.
This front spoiler is designed to reduce the amount of air going under the nose. A nice bi-product is that it also directs air up into the radiator. Additional cooling, even when in track mode is helpful in hot weather. This spoiler was designed specifically for a U.S. Time Attack event entry and resulted in a class win.
The spoiler does not extend any lower to the ground than the standard front undertray, so even on a lowered Model 3 there should be no issues with it scraping speed bumps or when driving onto ramps. Care should be taken however when fronting into parking spots with a kerb as the front lip of the spoiler will be the lowest part of the bodywork at that point. We have this spoiler fitted to our Model 3 Performance which is 30mm lower than the standard car and it's been fine.
With the right materials, the install is relatively easy with: 3M adhesive promoter #06396 and double sided tape #06383. Some tape is included attached to each spoiler. There are also 6 tabs where the spoiler attaches to existing holes in the front undertray using screw-in inserts and screws.
We also suggest protecting the front surface with helicopter tape or you can order PPF protection already applied from Tevo.
Maier's goal is always to make perfect parts although subtle distortions in the weave or pin holes in the gel coat can happen.
