What can I say, but what a difference from using the standard OEM front pads on my Long Range car. Noticed straight away how much better the Brembo pads feel, when having to brake suddenly when another driver does something in front of you and can't rely on the regen braking to do it for you. There is more confidence in braking around country roads now, when one likes to have fun behind the wheel! Yet to try these out on track, but this will hopefully happen sometime next year, when all the TDO's allow it. So in short, I highly recommend this upgrade.....
Sport pads for Model S, X and 3 (SR/LR) to replace the factory-fitted front brake pads.
The front brakes do most of the work on these cars, so for road use we suggest upgrading them and leaving the standard pads in in the rear calipers.
Regenerative braking has largely removed the need for high performance brakes on EVs, but many owners find that when they really need them to work the factory Tesla brakes lack the 'bite' and feel one might expect from such a high performance vehicle.
We've spent several months researching and testing alternatives to the Tesla OE components and can now offer upgrades for the Model S, X and 3. These Brembo Sport pads offer a significant improvement over the standard Brembo pads Tesla fit at the factory.
They offer outstanding performance even when cold and at low speeds, thanks to a specific friction material that ensures constant friction at all temperature ranges. In addition to enhanced performance, this material also ensures outstanding quietness and reduced disc and pad wear.
Brembo Sport brake pads also offer exceptional brake pedal precision, for total control of the braking force.
While they work best at temperatures between 200 and 300 °C, they can withstand much higher temperatures - up to 600 °C - and are designed to deliver both superlative performance and satisfactory levels of comfort.
Please note; the Model 3 version fits the non-performance models only. These Model 3 pads are slightly thicker than the factory Brembo pads. They will fit in the calipers but you may have to remove the anti-squeal shim on the backs of the pads in order to get them to fit. In practise, we've found this doesn't cause any issues or squeal.
Any competent garage will be able to fit these pads for you. There are no special tools required and the car will not even know you've changed anything. They have the correct wear indicators built in and are ECE R90 approved, meaning they are fully compliant with EU regulations.
The correct bedding procedure can be found here. It is very important to follow this to ensure they perform as expected.
Please note: The actual pad size/shape and packaging may be different to the photos shown here.
Just thought I would give an update on these brake pads. I'm still on the original Brembo front pads that I bought from TEVO despite having driven 12 trackdays on them so far, and still showing no sign of wear. I bought a second set in 2023, which are still boxed ready to go on the car, whenever they are required at some point!! In short, I highly recommend these brake pads if you would like to upgrade from the OEM pads.
