Carbotec are the world leader in Ceramic Kevlar friction materials.
Friction materials that contain Ceramic Kevlar formulations have become recognized for their desirable blend of traits. This allows the Ceramic Kevlar pads to handle higher brake temperatures with less heat fade, and provide faster recovery after heavy braking. It also reduces brake dust and makes wheel maintenance easier!
Ceramic Kevlar compounds extend brake life compared to most other semi-metallic and organic materials, and at the same time they outlast other premium pad materials by a significant margin, without compromising in noise control, pad life, and all around braking performance.
Tevo started working with Carbotech Europe back in 2019 to help bring one of the first Model 3 track-ready brake pad sets to the market and we still recommend them if you want to track your Model 3 Performance.
XP10™ pads are recommended for use with the factory brake setup. If you upgrade to a front big brake kit, the XP8™ compound is a better choice to use on the rear with the OE caliper, especially if you upgrade the rear rotors too.
XP10™ - Temperature zone : 110°C to 800°C
When Carbotech unleashed XP10™ to the general public in the US it was an instant success, gathering multiple regional, divisional, and national championships. XP10™ is a very high initial bite material with a coefficient of friction, and rotor friendliness unmatched in the industry with fade resistance in excess of 900°C. Due to the high level of friction and bite, this material is recommended for cars weighing 900kg or more and can be used with road or track tyres.
XP10™ is also ideal for advanced/instructor level drivers. XP10™ still maintains the highly praised release and excellent modulation, rotor friendliness and non-corrosive dust that have made all Carbotech compounds so popular. XP10™ can also be used very effectively on EVs which have regenerative braking, as squeal isn't usually an issue. Unlike some track oriented pads on the market, XP10™ can be safely used to drive to and from track due the excellent control and modulation it gives even at road use temperatures.
XP8™ - Temperature zone : 93°C to 680°C
A high torque brake compound with a wide operating temperature range of 200°F-1250°F+ (93°C to 676°C+). Carbotech™ XP8™ is the first of our racing compounds. It provides good initial bite at race temperatures, high coefficient of friction, excellent modulation and release characteristics. XP8™ offers extremely high fade resistance and is very rotor friendly. It’s perfect for track day use with any tyre.
The standard Tesla OE rear outboard pads have spring clips attached to them which locate in the caliper to stop the rattling as they wear. There are no clips on these rear pads so special double sided adhesive tape is provided which sticks the outboard pad to the caliper to prevent rattling.
You may find our EPB retractor cable useful when changing rear pads on the Model 3 Performance.
The correct bedding procedure is included with the pads. It is very important to follow this to ensure the pads perform as expected on track.
These pads may be noisy at low speeds if you drive in creep mode, but in our tests we found that selecting hold mode virtually eliminated slow speed squeal. The Carbotech range are not ECE R90 approved.
Made in the UK by Carbotech Europe.
Please note: The actual pad size/shape and packaging may be different to the photos shown here.
Fantastic performance improvement from just changing front pads and using SRF brake fluid. It will give you all the performance you need on the road and seem to work well on track. I found them to be a bit noisier than standard pads, but only when breaking hard, so no worse than normal when driving around town or on motorway. They are British made as well, which is a bonus!
